1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Brillat (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
Brillat is an AI-powered cooking assistant that helps you decide what to cook from the ingredients you already have. It uses photo input (receipts, fridge), inventory management, and AI-generated recipe suggestions grounded in flavor chemistry. The Service is provided "as-is" and we make no guarantee of uninterrupted availability.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU) to use Brillat.
- You are responsible for keeping your Apple/Google sign-in credentials secure.
- You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes all data described in the Privacy Policy within 30 days.
4. AI suggestions, not advice
Brillat's recipes, ingredient substitutions, and chemistry notes are AI-generated suggestions, not professional culinary, nutritional, or medical advice.
- Generated recipes may contain errors, including unsafe combinations, incorrect quantities, or missing allergen warnings.
- Expiration dates and freshness estimates are heuristic predictions, not measurements. Always use sight, smell, and your own judgment.
- Brillat is not a substitute for advice from a registered dietitian, allergist, or food-safety authority.
5. Food safety is your responsibility
You are solely responsible for verifying that every meal you cook with Brillat's help is safe to eat. This includes — but is not limited to:
- Checking allergens against your and your guests' restrictions.
- Verifying ingredient freshness and proper storage before use.
- Reaching the correct internal temperature for proteins (e.g., poultry at 75 °C / 165 °F).
- Avoiding cross-contamination between raw and cooked foods.
Brillat shows safety chips ("Kills salmonella", "Don't refreeze") as general guidance. They are not a substitute for following your local food-safety authority's recommendations.
6. Subscription
Some features may require a paid subscription ("Pro"). Subscriptions are sold through the App Store and managed by Apple under their terms.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel at any time in App Store → your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple per their policy.
- Free trials, if offered, convert automatically to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless cancelled.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to violate any law, regulation, or third-party right.
- Upload photos that contain other people's identifiable images without their consent, or any content depicting minors in inappropriate contexts.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer the app, our proxy, or the AI provider's API.
- Send automated requests, scrape, or interfere with normal operation.
- Use the Service to generate harmful, deceptive, or copyright-infringing content.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.
8. Intellectual property
- The Brillat name, logo, app code, and original written content are owned by Codeful.
- You retain ownership of the photos and feedback you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process them solely to operate the Service for you (see Privacy §3).
- Recipes generated by the AI are provided to you for personal cooking use; you may share, modify, and cook them freely.
9. Termination
You may stop using Brillat at any time by deleting your account. We may terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms, if we are required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, Privacy §6 (retention) governs how long any remaining data is kept.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available"without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of AI output, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Codeful and its officers, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of or related to your use of the Service — including without limitation any loss arising from reliance on AI suggestions, food preparation, allergic reactions, or food spoilage. In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitations above; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes are announced in-app and via the email on file at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that is not first resolved by good-faith negotiation will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Seoul, Korea, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country requires a different forum.
